Relaxation
Laid between the Ionian sea and the Adriatic sea, Salento is a land in the middle, a crossing of people, a magic crossroads of traditions, a bridge to the enchanting East, the cradle of Greek Roman culture.
With its 240 km of coastline, its mild climate and wonderful sandy shores and inlets, this land preserves the colours and scents of our Mediterranean culture.
Our guests will be able to visit:
In this land, called "Enotria" (land of wine) by the ancient Greeks, lies CASTELLO MONACI, still surrounded by vineyards yielding prestigious wines.
From the outside, the fortified building seems to preserve the charm of a small ancient village, with its ivy-mantled towers.
Enter the castle via the port cullis and be surprised by the beautiful court yard garden with tall palms, a lucious lawn, soffused lights, wide steps and stone balconies that gently prepare you for the magnificence of the interior.
The atmosphere in the halls with warm stone coverings, star vaults, wooden ceilings, valuable furnitures and furnishings, is of an ancient and composed elegance, where the values and the ethics of noble tradition seem to revive.
WINE MUSEUM: The wine museum is located in the Castello Monaci winery which dates back to the 1930s. It displays traditional wine-making tools and equipment from that era and before, allowing you to experience the world of wine through all its phases, from the vine to the bottle. As well as being able to taste the excellent wines produced by Castello Monaci, you will have the opportunity to visit its celler, one of the most important in the South of Italy, and to buy many typical products produced by the Castello such as olive oil, olives, pasta, sauces, preserves etc.
WOODS: 15 hectares through which you can cycle, run and walk brathing in the healthy air of this unique area of Mediterranean vegetation.
SEA AND RELAX: Salento offers a marvellous collection of sandy beaches, secluded bays, mystical caves and towerring cliffs which together with the crystalline sea make this area one of the few unspoilt pearls of the south of Italy. The area is rich in magnificent artistic-cultural resources that reflect the styles and traditions of the many people who have inhabited the Salento.
